The two post lift is a specialized kind of lifting equipment for car repair and maintenance, widely used for the repair and maintenance of small cars. Two post lift is divided into symmetrical and asymmetric. Symmetrical lift has virtually the same arm length in all of its four arms so as to concentrate the car's center (barycenter) in the middle of the post. However, as for symmetrical two post lift that doesn't have a post distance wide enough, it is unable to open the cars' doors when they are lifted, which is a great defect. Asymmetric lift's post can be turned back at a certain angle (about 30°). When cars are stopped at a proper place on the asymmetric lift, they will move backwards a little bit, so we can get into the car through the doors easily. Besides, this kind of asymmetric life's rotating post can ensure that cars' center-of-gravity is located right between the posts.
